pBAD-MazF

This composite part is controlled by Arabinose.Under the control of Arabinose,the promoter pBAD can be activated and it facilitates the expression of downstream mazF.

Usage and Biology

We designed a drug control system to promote engineered bacterial toxin proteins to trigger bacterial death by adding inducers. Compared to rhamnose,we considered arabinose as a better choice to construct a simple drug-inducing system.Arabinose is a naturally occurring simple carbohydrate that can be utilised as a carbon source by many micro-organisms and aquatic organisms. However, whether the inducer can effectively kill the engineered bacteria in seawater still needs further experimental proof.
